USA Karate has announced that the 2023 USA National Karate Championships and Team Trials will be held from July 13-16, 2023, in Richmond, Virginia at the Greater Richmond Conference Center.


The Richmond region is one of the most central destinations on the East Coast. It is within a day’s drive from over half of the U.S. population and was voted “One of the Top 50 cities worth exploring in 2022” by MSN. Richmond is a vibrant, thriving, and diverse mid-sized metropolitan destination with nationally renowned attributes in both nature and business. Richmond has world-class indoor and outdoor facilities along with an exciting array of historic, cultural, and outdoor attractions.


USA Karate is concerned for the safety of our athletes, officials, staff members, volunteers and spectators. N95 or KN95 Masks are recommended for all individuals regardless of vaccination status within the tournament and event space. Protocols may change if additional restrictions are put on by the convention center, hotels, federal, state, or local health departments.


Only white traditional Gis are allowed in signature events. The Karate1 Red and Blue striped Gis are not allowed. The Gi must have a USA-NKF patch on it. Flag patches cannot be worn at signature events. Due to SafeSport requirements individuals cannot be changing Gi tops within the competition area.


USA Karate Signature Events are run under the US Center for SafeSport Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies.
